John Schulman, a co-founder of OpenAI, departs the business. Thus, a number of executives left the business that developed ChatGPT in just the first half of 2024.
As per the Reuters news agency, Mr. John Schulman made an announcement on social media platform X about his departure from OpenAI, the firm that developed ChatGPT, and his intention to join Anthropic, a competitor startup.
On August 5, Mr. Schulman posted on X, saying, “My decision stems from my desire to focus more deeply on artificial intelligence (AI) and start a new chapter in my career, where I can return to hands-on engineering.”
Furthermore, according to the Information page, Mr. Peter Deng, another director of OpenAI, has departed the organization.
Greg Brockman, the co-founder and president of OpenAI, announced that he will be taking a leave of absence that will last until the end of 2024. This IT startup hasn’t yet responded to any media inquiries.
Reuters reports that OpenAI’s executives departed amid substantial staffing changes at the business following the end of July transfer of computer scientist and head of AI safety Aleksander Madry to a different division.
Prior to this, Mr. Ilya Sutskever and Mr. Andrej Karpathy, the two co-founders of OpenAI, departed the business in February and May, respectively.
In 2015, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, Reid Hoffman, the co-founder of LinkedIn, and Mr. Sam Altman, the Chairman of YC Group at the time, formed the founding team of OpenAI.
Billionaire Elon Musk departed OpenAI in February 2018 following a struggle for leadership and control over the business.
However, on August 5, the CEO of Tesla abruptly retracted the complaint against Altman, the new CEO of OpenAI, alleging that the business prioritized its bottom line over the needs of the community.
